Amazon Go—a success

Since its opening in early 2018, Amazon Go is reportedly out-earning convenience stores. Amazon Go is a “futuristic” shopping experience where customers can walk in with the correct application, grab what they want, and walk right out. Advanced technology tracks what they take and charge it straight to their linked Amazon account. According to estimates from RBC Capital Market Analysts, Amazon Go brings in 50 percent more revenue on average than typical convenience stores.

The average order is around $10, and the average amount of customers is around 500 per day. Amazon plans to expand the amount of Amazon Go stores, hoping to reach about 3000 additional stores by 2021. Should this go ahead, 3000 stores would bring in up to $4.5 billion in sales revenue per year.
