Coles Drives Australian Price Competition

After an incredible response to its ‘Dropped and Locked’ price freeze, Coles has announced the extension of the promotion beyond its initial 31st January 2023 end date. Over one thousand grocery items had their prices lowered and locked, including mince, free-range eggs, cheese, bread, sausages, pasta, rice chicken stock, crackers, canned tomatoes, snacks, nappies, handwash, pet food and dishwashing tablets.

Both Coles and Woolworths implemented price freezing tactics in Australia in mid-2022.

It is expected that the Coles announcement will trigger price drops from competitors Woolworths, IGA and possibly Aldi.

Woolworths just shared it will not be extending its own price freeze and instead would be offering different future promotions to help consumers with the increasing cost of living.
