UK | In a recent study, Asda unveiled that nearly one in three Brits (29 percent) admitted to being unsure about what to serve a vegan guest for Christmas dinner. Moreover, the research disclosed that 75 percent of vegans had encountered disappointing Christmas dinners hosted by non-vegans, featuring dry nut roast, beans on toast, and even non-vegan dishes.
To address the Christmas dinner conundrum, Asda has introduced the OMV! Turkey & Trimmings for One is a delightful vegan option priced at just £3.50. This includes a vegan turkey, cranberry and orange stuffing, vegan sage and onion stuffing balls, and succulent 'no pigs' in blankets.
The study further highlighted that nearly one in five Brits (17 percent) would feel stressed about cooking a separate meal for a vegan guest, while 21 percent expressed concerns about the adequacy of their offerings. About 28 percent of Brits resorted to Google for ideas on serving a vegan guest, and nine percent admitted to defaulting to a nut roast or asking the guest to bring their dish.
For vegans, the anxiety about Christmas dinner at a meat eater's house was evident, with 27 percent feeling nervous and 75 percent having experienced inedible meals due to blandness (42 percent), dryness (30 percent), or non-vegan ingredients (18 percent).
