Iconic Brand Celebrates 130 Years

Uncle Tobys

Beloved manufacturer and renowned comfort brand for Australians and New Zealanders, Uncle Tobys, is celebrating 130 years of production.

To mark the occasion, the brand has released a range of limited edition box designs with new recipes by chef Hayden Quin.

After the gold rush in Australia, brothers Leonard and George Parsons left England and started manufacturing John Bull Oats in Melbourne. In 1861 the Uncle Tobys Company was born, named initially Parsons Bros.

However, the expansion of the railway in the 1890s was what enabled Australian to have more accessibility for farming, simultaneously allowing the oats to be transported nationwide.

In 1893 the Uncle Tobys oats product was introduced to the market by Clifford Love and Co in Sydney and has now become the staple brand seen on many Australian and Kiwi kitchen shelves.

Recognised for its varying products, such as cereals, oats, snacks, and muesli bars, the brand has continued to use 100 percent Australian-grown oats within a few hundred kilometres of the brand's Wahgunyah factory, where it first milled out in 1863.

The limited edition boxes celebrating the anniversary can be found in supermarkets across Australia.
