Protection of the Baguette

The French baguette has been added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Items that are added to the list recognise a country’s heritage and are important in maintaining cultural diversity as globalisation increases.

The production of a baguette requires specific knowledge and techniques that use only four ingredients. 

Other food items on the list include Turkish Coffee, Palov from Uzbekistan, Dolma from Azerbaijan and Lavash bread from Armenia.
