Walmart and Target Announce Seasonal Workforce Numbers

Walmart and Target have announced holiday hiring plans in the USA, expecting 40,000 and 100,000 new employees, respectively.

Walmart has said that the new employees for the Christmas season will include store associates to help deliver customer experience, full-time truck drivers and customer care associates.

Targets additional team members will access flexible scheduling, well-being benefits, and team member discounts. They noted that 30 percent of seasonal hires continue to work with the company after the holiday season.

The holiday season is expected to see a growth in sales of between one and two percent - a relatively slow increase compared to a record-breaking 14.1 percent in 2021. The average growth rate for the last decade has sat around 5.3 percent.
