WORLDWIDE TRENDS IN FOOD

The World Tour is a must-see event at SIAL Paris, to be held from October 16 to 20. In partnership with 28 professional magazines from all around the world, including Supermarket News, the World Tour takes a look at the latest global trends in food. From Australia to Canada, from Brazil to Russia, three trends have been identified: health, smart shopping and convenience, and channel blurring / changing consumption.
As consumers are inclined to be more health-conscious, healthy products are on the rise, and so is the consumption of local produce. The so-called superfoods are becoming more popular, and conventional products are integrating beneficial ingredients.
Convenience is another strong trend worldwide. Lastly, consumption habits are changing, with Millennials driving growth in the snack category. Food retail and food service are no longer distinct universes.
