FARRO Fresh’s new Epsom store opened its doors after owner Janene Draper noticed there was nothing in terms of a one-stop produce shop in the area. The fourth Farro Fresh across Auckland, it’s the same size as the Grey Lynn store but has increased storage out the back. A new innovation, The Juice Shack, has been introduced to serve kale juice to customers.
The store has an increased gluten-free range, offers salads-to-go and a hot sandwich choice each day, uses Hussmann fridges and has moved to LED lighting. Located on the corner of Greenlane West and Manukau Road, Draper says the location is extremely important.
“We really like the corner site; people call in on their way back from the airport. Our philosophy is if they go to Farro they get the same experience at each store,” she said.
There are 70 staff across the store, and 320 across the whole group after beginning with just 12 staff. Farro has started a full recycling programme and just celebrated after decreasing plastic bag use in the last month by at least half. Draper said they have started charging customers for plastic bags, while crediting back people who use their own plastic bags.
