The Steinlager Pure team has recently scored ‘Best in Class’ at the 2016 New World Beer & Cider Awards. This year, 40 gold medals and 13 ‘Best in Class’ were awarded, out of 458 different beers and ciders entered from 83 brewers across 13 categories.
“We’re immensely proud of taking out such a hotly contested category alongside some great New Zealand and international beers. Our brewers consistently do an incredible job in brewing a premium New Zealand lager and this award is yet another validation of the great work they do,” said Rory Glass, managing director of Lion Beer, Spirits & Wine NZ.
A panel of 15 independent judges assessed each entry on its merits, evaluating qualities such as technical excellence, drinkability and balance. Michael Donaldson, chair of the independent judges, said the quality of entries overall was outstanding.
“It shows the quality we’ve come to expect from established breweries has not diminished, while the fact relative newcomers are able to reach award-winning standards in such as short time is a reflection of the growing maturity of the industry,” said Donaldson.
Shoppers can now purchase the award-winning brands at all New World stores throughout the country.
