A group of former and present All Blacks have paid a surprise visit to Mount Wellington’s Panama Road school, amid the delighted 'wows' of young students. The event marked the release of Sanitarium’s All Blacks Champions collector card promotions, featuring 24 world-champion winning players.
The group—which included Dane Coles, Julian Savea, Jerome Kaino, Michael Jones, Keven Mealamu and Buck Shelford—also presented students with leadership awards.
“One of the great things about being an All Black is that we have a chance to make a positive impact on our community,” said Shelford. “A school visit like this gives us the chance to meet some awesome Kiwi kids and share our experiences of what it takes to succeed, not just in sport but in life.”
Double world champion Keven Mealamu was no less amazed.
“We want kids to understand that it’s not about having the best boots, the latest gear or the most coaching sessions, but qualities like perseverance, resilience and passion that make a champion,” he said.
