Last month, PAK’nSAVE staff helped raise over $100,000 for the Movember campaign, becoming its top fundraiser in New Zealand. The internal contest between North Island and South Island saw the former win; of all 52 stores participating in the initiative, PAK’nSAVE Hastings turned out to be the fundraising leader, having collected almost $9,000.
“I was lucky to have 25 staff who shared my enthusiasm,” said owner-operator Brendon Smith. “At the start of the month, we set the goal of raising the most. In addition to donation boxes at checkouts and staff Movember pages, the store donated $2 for every loaf of Quality Bakers bread bought during November.”
As for PAK’nSAVE South Island, Hornby had the best team; owner John Lee even donated one dollar for every dollar staff and customers gave, raising $4,166.
“The Foodstuffs family is a competitive bunch and this determination raised a lot of money to go towards the good work of the Movember Foundation,” said Steve Anderson, managing director at Foodstuffs NZ. “Importantly, it also made us think about men’s health, our own and the men in our lives.”
The Foundation collected over $760,000 during the month, and other donations are expected to bring the total to $1.1 million by year end.
