After opening the Snowball Effect capital raise to the public back in June, Supie has raised a total of $3.9 million from investors.

The initial goal for the online supermarket was to raise $3 million, so Founder and Chief Executive Sarah Belle has been overwhelmed by the response.

Supie has over 27,000 members after launching only a year ago. The grocery services are still based in Auckland. However, the company has big plans to expand with the new investments.

Simeon Burnett, CEO of Snowball Effect, said that Supie's capital raise set the record for the largest number of investors in a single raise.

Supie draws inspiration from the impact 2Degrees had on the telecommunications industry, hoping to do something similar in grocery.

The product range has expanded to include 6,500 grocery items from a base of 350 suppliers.
