The Inspire+ New Zealand Artisan Awards gives local food and beverage producers a platform to showcase product innovation. Our 2021 Awards saw a record-breaking level of support with 957 entries across the eight categories.
What's changed?
Due to the overwhelmingly high quality of entries, the number of which has grown year on year, we have pivoted our awards to reflect the calibre of innovation coming through NPD (new product development).
Previously, the awards were structured through a process that reduced the number of entries to those that were finalists, a category winner was then awarded within each category, with some Highly Commended product mentions. From all Category Winners, an overall Supreme Award winner was selected.
This year, there is no limit on the number of products receiving recognition for product innovation. Due to the high level of innovation and product development in NPD the judging criteria have been updated to reflect the ability of a brand to be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold in any of the categories. This provides the judges with the ability to award based on an individual product rather than using a comparison model.
In this way, we are recognising product innovation that has reached one of the standards (Bronze, Silver or Gold) as an individual product.
To be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold will mean that the product has reached the standard of product development that the judging panel agree meets consumer demand.
All award winners will be put forward for the Supreme Winner.
