ALDI Australia’s Coffee Takes Top Honours

AUSTRALIA | ALDI Australia’s exclusive range of Lazzio coffee beans took out top honours at this year’s Golden Bean World Series, proving that a world-class brew doesn’t have to break the bank.

ALDI’s Lazzio Luxe Blend Premium Coffee Beans ground its way to award glory, going home with the gold medal in the Large Franchise Espresso category. The Lazzio Medium Coffee Beans received the silver gong in the Large Franchise Milk category.

Robert Eichfeld, Buying Director at ALDI Australia, said Australians are coffee-obsessed and know a good brew when they taste one.

"We are incredibly proud to partner with Black Bag Roasters, based in the heart of Melbourne, to deliver world-class, award-winning coffee to our customers. To be recognised on a global scale with two prestigious Golden Bean World Series medals in this year’s awards shows that you don’t need to break the bank for the best brew.”

The Golden Bean is the world’s largest coffee roasting competition, bringing together the best of the best in the coffee roasting industry. The World Series is the grand final between the Northern and Southern hemispheres to crown the world champions of roasting.

Over 100 industry representatives served as expert judges in this year’s World Series, which saw ALDI’s already award-winning Lazzio coffee secure more top honours for 2026.

"At Black Bag Roasters, we are always humbled to be recognised on the world stage at the Golden Bean World Series. We strive to perfectly roast every single bean in our Melbourne facility, ensuring each bag of ALDI’s Lazzio range is of the highest quality yet affordable," said Ben Romeril, CCO at Nomad Coffee Group.

"Our local and global success is thanks to our committed twelve-year partnership with ALDI, which is built on exceptionally high standards around quality, accessibility, and consistency.”
