E-COMMERCE GIANT OPENS STORE

Amazon has announced its plans of opening a physical low-cost grocery store in Los Angeles by 2020. The latest scheme is indicative of the company's growing interest in the $800 billion US grocery business.

The store will be located in Woodland Hills, an upscale neighbourhood in the San Fernando Valley. The company has not released details regarding market selection and pricing. However, it has confirmed that it will be different from the Amazon-owned Whole Foods, will carry the brand's name and, unlike the brand's cashless convenience store Amazon Go, will function as a traditional grocery store.

"When it comes to grocery shopping, we know customers love choice," said an Amazon spokesperson. "This new store offers another grocery option that's distinct from Whole Foods Market, which continues to grow and remain the leader in quality natural and organic food."
