Costco NZ’s website has announced the Auckland store will be opening on September 28. According to the company’s Instagram account, construction is in its final stages.
Unlike many other Costco stores, the West Auckland one will be missing the sale of Liquor, as negotiations with The Trusts are said to have not aligned.
Costco will also likely be exempt from the new grocery wholesale agreements for a five-year grace period. The government does not want to block the ability of new businesses to enter the market.
Costco memberships can still be purchased online or from the temporary office.
