Meat Department Restructure

Meat Department

Countdown's director of stores, Jason Stockill, has said that the supermarket is currently consulting with around 400 of its team and First Union on its proposed changes to its North Island meat department team structure.

He continued that in the last couple of years, there had been several changes to how Countdown produces, delivers, and sells meat in its North Island stores, particularly with the opening of the Hilton Meat Plant.

"We think that this proposal reflects the changing skills needed to run our departments, evolving customer preferences, and the future operational needs of our stores," said Stockill.

Stockill explained that if the proposal were confirmed in its current form, the priority would be redeploying team members wherever possible, ensuring they could continue their careers with Countdown.

However, Stockill added that Countdown’s current focus was supporting its team and listening to their feedback on this proposal through the consultation process.
