New Zealand Food Safety Recall Of All Tahini Products

Tahini

New Zealand Food Safety has released an emergency recall statement of all products containing Tahini over potential Salmonella contamination.

The agency supports Life Health New Zealand Limited in recalling products by name brands Lisa’s, Greater! And Prep Kitchen containing Tahini, over the potential presence of Salmonella.

“Salmonellosis can be serious, so people mustn't eat these products,” shared New Zealand Food Safety Deputy Director-General Vince Arbuckle.

Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning will appear after a 12 to 72-hour period, and individuals who have consumed these products or are concerned for their health and well-being are urged to call their healthcare professional or Healthline at 0800 611 116.

Included symptoms are abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, fever, headache, nausea and vomiting. While the illness usually lasts between four and seven days, more severe cases can go up to 10 days and cause more serious illness.

Products from the named brands can be refunded if returned to the store.

“As is our usual practice, New Zealand Food Safety will be working with Life Health Foods NZ Ltd to understand how the contamination occurred and prevent its recurrence."
