After gaining much popularity throughout the US, meal replacement drink Soylent has launched in the UK as its first expansion outside the States. Research has shown that skipping meals has become increasingly common in the UK and Soylent hopes its company will provide an alternative for busy consumers. The drink comes in multiple flavours such as vanilla, mocha and strawberry in RTD bottles or in tubs and pouches of powder that can be mixed with other drinks.
Soylent is also vegan-friendly and nut-free. Producing less CO2 and using less water than protein from animals, the beverage is made using plant-based proteins. With a long shelf-life of a year, the drink only requires refrigeration when opened, helping cut back on food waste.
“The near-on cult following for Soylent here in the US and the know-how of our launch agency, which has its feet firmly on UK turf, allows us to be optimistic about this expansion. Our mission is about giving access to affordable nutrition to everyone and making unsustainable foods obsolete,” said Andrew Thomas, VP of marketing at Soylent.
