Stuart Griffin Elected Chair of Fonterra Australia Suppliers’ Council

AUSTRALIA | Westbury farmer Stuart Griffin has been elected Chair of the Fonterra Australia Suppliers’ Council (FASC).

This has reinforced the Council’s commitment to representing farmers across Victoria and Tasmania and strengthening its partnership with Fonterra.

Griffin brings deep industry experience and a strong connection to the farming community. His family has farmed in Gippsland for more than a century, and today he runs a 500-cow operation alongside his wife Belinda and his parents.

After starting his career as a veterinarian in northern Victoria, he returned to the family farm to continue its legacy.

Returning to FASC after a three-year break, having previously served as Councillor and Deputy Director, he has stepped into the role at a pivotal time as Fonterra’s Australian operations separate from the Co-op.

“I am very happy to be back as part of the Fonterra Australia Suppliers’ Council after three years,” Griffin said.

“As we know, there is change on the way, and my role, supported by all Council members, is to ensure we have an informed and represented supplier base throughout the transition and beyond.”

He also emphasised the Council’s collaborative approach to working with Fonterra.

“The Suppliers’ Council is ready to work with all levels of management and suppliers to bring about positive outcomes for all involved, while still maintaining a focus on the needs of the current season.”

Looking ahead, Griffin is passionate about re-engaging with key initiatives that showcase the industry and inspire future generations.

“I am excited to get back into two fantastic FASC initiatives, The Proud to be a Dairy Farmer program, and Get to know Fonterra. Both play an important role in providing a view of the industry beyond the farm gate and inspiring all farmers to jump into the opportunities that a career in dairy can provide.”

Griffin has taken the reins from Lockington farmer, Paul Weller, who served as FASC Chair from April 2024 - October 2025. Weller continues in the role of FASC Regional Director for Northern Victoria.
