Nescafé’s New Sustainable Packaging

Nescafe

Nescafé has launched its first instant coffee refill pouch for Nescafé Gold Blend and Nescafé Original that can be recycled in stores and helps save money while reducing packaging.

The new 150g refill pouch is 97 percent lighter than the 200g glass coffee jar and has, on average, 60 percent less plastic than the jar’s lid.

The pack is resealable to help preserve freshness. Once the refill is empty, consumers can recycle the packages in more than 5000 stores across the United Kingdom and through a kerbside collection in Ireland.

The new pouch uses less packaging and offers better value for money than the standard coffee jar.

“We know that Nescafé lovers are getting more concerned about the sustainability credentials of the products they consume,” said Sophie Demoulin, Marketing Director of Nescafé Soluble Coffee.

Demoulin stated the brand was proud of the launch of its new coffee pack, providing consumers with high-quality coffee, which maintains its renowned rich aroma in less packaging and for more value for money.

The new Nescafé Gold Blend refill pouch is available now in all major retailers, and the Nescafé Original refill pouch will hit shelves at the end of March.

The launch is part of Nescafe’s ongoing packaging sustainability commitments, including reducing our use of virgin plastic by one-third by 2025. Alongside improving the sustainability credentials of its packaging, Nescafé strives to make coffee farming more sustainable, and all coffee used in Nescafé products made in the UK is 100 percent responsibly sourced.

As part of the Nescafé Plan 2030, Nescafé outlined its plan to bring lasting positive change to hundreds of thousands of coffee farmers through regenerative and resilient coffee farming.

The brand has started working with coffee farmers to help them transition to regenerative agriculture, which aims to lower greenhouse gas emissions while helping increase farmers’ income and improve social conditions in our value chains.
