The Golden Apple

Yello apples

Yello, the golden apple variety, is back on shelves in Europe and will be until April 2023. Known for its tropical aromas, juiciness, and strong colouring, the apple hails from Japan. Called Shinano Gold, the variety was born in the Nagano Research Centre in 1983 and is a cross between a Golden Delicious and a Senshu.

In Europe, the apple is produced exclusively by the VOG and VIP Consortia. Between the two companies, 2,500 tonnes of Yello has been harvested this year.

Yello can also be found in Australia, grown by Montague and in selected Costco, Woolworths and independent grocers.
