VEOLIA AND LEON TRIAL DEPOSIT SCHEME

Recycling group Veolia has teamed up with a UK restaurant to trial a reverse deposit-return scheme. Customers who return their drink containers will receive a 10% discount off their nearest Leon restaurant. The first vending machine will be located in King’s Cross London and will accept bottles up to 750ml and aluminium cans.

“A UK-wide deposit-return scheme is imperative if we want to round up the millions of stray plastic bottles and cans, we as a country are not recycling,” said Richard Kirkman, chief technology and innovation officer, Veolia UK & Ireland.

John Vincent, CEO & Co-Founder of Leon believes that the partnership with Veolia is a great step forward. “We can’t wait to welcome all the recycling warriors into our restaurants and reward their efforts with a little thank you from us.”
