Countdown: Auckland Flooding Update

Only one Auckland supermarket remains closed today after a weekend of hard work and recovery from the team at Countdown.

"Our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by the devastating flooding across the Auckland region and the rest of the upper North Island," said a Countdown Spokesperson.

"We’re working closely with our food rescue and charity partners to ensure we’re best supporting our community’s needs as we all work to recover from this incredibly damaging event.

"Our Mairangi Bay store remains closed, and we’re working with our local food rescue partner, KiwiHarvest, to ensure all food that is unsaleable but still good enough to eat is redirected to Aucklanders in need.

"The rest of our stores and our entire supply chain is open and operating as usual.

"We want to thank our customers for their patience and kindness as we continue to work hard to make sure everyone can get what they need.

"All of our team are safe, and we’re keeping in close contact with those who have been personally affected by the flooding to support them with accommodation, financial grants, and leave as needed."
