PAK’nSAVE owners and operators across the North Island have donated over $575,000 to aid the recovery of affected communities due to Cyclone Gabrielle. This donation will be dispersed across several local charities and organisations committed to assisting communities devastated by the extreme weather.
“The damage experienced across the North Island is just terrible, and our thoughts are with all those families and communities who are suffering,” said Lance Gerlach, Owner and Operator of PAK’nSAVE Westgate in Auckland.
All locally owned PAK’NSAVE stores directly relate to at least one food bank or rescue. They have worked closely with their partner stores, organisations, and charities to provide immediate relief and support for the most affected communities.
“Our donation will help to provide much-needed support to those affected by the cyclone and extreme weather, and our contribution will make a meaningful difference as everyone focuses on the road to recovery.”
Foodstuffs North Island, the 100 percent New Zealand-owned co-operative behind the supermarket, will add this donation from PAK’nSAVE to the existing $335,000 worth of product or cash funding already provided. The addition of this donation brings the total value of the support supplied by the cooperative to over $900,000.
Foodstuffs have also joined services with New Zealand Telehealth Services and the Red Cross Disaster fund to support further the families and communities devastated by the cyclone.
