Pak’nSave Pre-Easter Opening

Pak'nSave Pre-Easter Opening

Pak'nSave pre-Easter opening of a stand-alone Pak'nSave store in Papanui has been announced by Foodstuffs South Island. The store is set to open before Easter 2024 and will be the largest store opened by the co-op in the Canterbury region.

The store's construction began in April 2022 and has just been completed. It will officially replace Pak'nSave Northlands just two kilometres away.

"This investment reflects Foodstuffs South Island's ongoing commitment to customer service, customer experience, community growth, and embracing sustainable practices in every aspect of its operations," said Tim Donaldson, general manager of retail & property for Foodstuffs South Island.

There will be a one-day gap in trading between the closure of Pak'nSave Northlands and the Pak'nSave Easter opening at Papanui. This ensures a smooth transition between locations, and Donaldson advises local shoppers to keep this in mind.

"This extraordinary achievement has been made possible through months of careful planning, so our customers and community have as little distribution to their shopping as possible."

The new location has been carefully designed to provide customers with a better shopping experience. The carpark has been enlarged, and access to the store has been made more convenient.

The store has also been designed to be more energy efficient and includes several sustainability features. Some of these are using natural light, including solar panels and electric vehicle charging. The store will also have a dedicated Click & Collect space and adjacent public transport services.

Pak'nSave Papanui will provide 100 additional new roles for the community on top of the 210 positions already filled by team members brought over from Pak'nSave Northlands.

"We put a big focus on investing in what our customers have been telling us they want more of- quality fresh products, wider aisles, more carparks, and easy access to and from the site. And a customer experience that is second to none," Donaldson said.
