Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has been the source of many health trends and the latest involves turning it into gummy lollies. However, expert ACV manufacturers are saying the gummies are not all they are cracked up to be.
The general health benefits apple cider vinegar provides are because of the living enzymes that thrive inside the vinegar itself. The production process of fermented foods is incredibly delicate to ensure that these enzymes are kept alive. When it comes to making ACV gummies, the liquid must be heated to above 50 degrees before being set, which kills the enzymes.
While eating ACV gummies may still provide the benefits of alkalization, with no living enzymes, there are much fewer benefits to gut health. The gummies have been popularised because of their convenience, rather than their health benefits.
