CHOCOLATE GIANT TAKES A STAND FOR FARMERS

Thanks to a global partnership between Mondelez International and Fairtrade, Cadbury’s farmer-focused sustainability program, Cocoa Life, will be rolled out to Cadbury Dairy Milk products in Australia and New Zealand from 2018.

The products will carry the Cocoa Life logo, giving consumers the confidence that, by buying a Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar, they are making a difference to the lives of many.

Launched by Mondelez in 2012, the US$400 million program aims to improve income and conditions for 200,000 farmers and one million community members in six cocoa-growing countries by 2022 (Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, India and Brazil).

“Since the launch of Cocoa Life in 2012, we’ve touched more than 795 cocoa-farming communities around the world,” said Kjetil Undhjem, director marketing chocolate Australia and New Zealand, Mondelēz International. “We’re proud to share independent verification which shows that Ghanaian farmers’ incomes have increased by 49 percent more than farmers outside of the program.”
