After four years in the making, a new and improved Pak'nSave store  opened its doors in Napier this week, offering 50 percent more retail space than its predecessor. Pak'nSave Tamatea employs 160 staff and supports the local community by sponsoring schools, charities and around 75 junior sports teams.

“For our team, it's the culmination of almost four years of planning and development,” said owner-operator Andrew Graney, who started working at the original store in 2004. “Many of them have been involved in the planning and design right from the outset, so it's a real team effort and I'm extremely proud of what we've achieved so far.”

The store features energy-efficient lighting and refrigeration technology and includes a dedicated seafood department, self-service checkouts and the popular SHOP'nGO service, which allows customers to scan products as they shop and simply pay at the end.

No detail has been left to chance. Specialising in marketing and retail display solutions, SPOSGroup has worked directly with store owner Andrew Graney and the Foodstuffs team on a merchandising queuing solution that could uplift sales and improve customer flow.

"Each store has its challenges and solving these gives you a real sense of pride in what you do as a business," said Amanda Howes, NZ national sales manager, SPOS. "Our aim was not only to deliver our usual suite of products, but to overcome some challenging signage 'wants' and provide exactly what Andrew had envisaged."

Howes said the result has been satisfying. "Andrew was very impressed, and we are particularly pleased to see our limitless Qmotive System in the first Pak'nSave. We are now looking forward to many more stores coming on board."
