New Zealand Food Safety has supported Nestlé in its recall of specific batches of Milo Dipped Snack Bars, as the product may contain foreign matter.
Acting New Zealand Food Safety deputy director-general Jenny Bishop said the concern with this product is that rubber pieces could cause choking.
"If you have any Nestlé Dipped Snack Bars with batch numbers 5316, 5317, and 5318 TD15 and a best-before date of August 2026, don’t eat them. You can return it to the place of purchase for a refund. If that’s not possible, throw it out."
The affected products have been sold at supermarkets and retail stores across New Zealand since December. The products have been removed from store shelves and have not been re-exported. This recall does not affect any other Nestlé brand products.
“The safety of our consumers is our absolute top priority. This recall is a precautionary measure, in line with our strict product quality and safety protocols," said Nestlé Oceania, General Manager Snacks, Andrew Lawrey.
“As soon as we became aware of the issue, we made contact with authorities to conduct a recall and notified all relevant retailers. If you have purchased any of these products, please return them to the place of purchase for a full refund."

New Zealand Food Safety has not received any notifications of associated injury.
"As is our usual practice, New Zealand Food Safety will work with Nestlé to understand how this happened and prevent its recurrence," said Bishop.
The affected products were made in Australia and are also subject to recall there. The products have been available for sale in ALDI, Coles, Woolworths and independent retailers, including IGA in NSW, QLD, VIC, TAS, SA, WA and online.
