Rapid Grocery Delivery Company Expands Reach

Teddy grocery delivery, a new supermarket and grocery delivery service, have announced that they extended the range of their delivery zones in Auckland.

The new range reaches Windsor and Blockhouse Bay, then out west in Mt Roskill and Onehunga, eastwards to St Heliers and Panmure, and as far north as Takapuna and Northcote.

Communities in these new delivery areas can now receive Teddy’s popularised products, including one-dollar milk and two-dollar bread.

“The demand from our online customers to open up to these suburbs with our super quick delivery of great value groceries was so great. We knew we had to make it happen. After many requests, we have also launched a mobile web version of the app,” shared the Founder of Teddy, Ricki Taiaroa.

As well as expanding their delivery range, so has the range of their inventory which can be delivered, including products from brands INVIVO, Brothers Beer, and Chop butchery to broaden options in their steak, sausages and chicken categories.

The conversation of price points raises the question of the value of convenience. Teddy’s prices are on par with that of Foodstuffs New World Cooperative, which is generally considered more expensive than cooperatives such as PAK’nSAVE.

“We have found the wholesale environment ‘challenging’. We’re not getting any real traction on competitive wholesale pricing. We’re not giving up though - we’ll keep chipping away til we can deliver the sharpest pricing and widest range possible,” revealed Co-founder Chaz Savage.

However, while the company navigates the pricing game, Teddy prioritises customer service.

“We offer super responsive live chat in our app with real people, not bots. But we’ve put so much emphasis on service it makes sense that we are growing a community of advocates. We don’t understand how these companies with hundreds of millions in revenue are being out-serviced by a small but ambitious company like Teddy.”

Teddy’s ambitious decision to expand its delivery and product range has increased its popularity and could revolutionise how Kiwis go about their grocery shopping. However, the discussion of prices may become a point of contention, but Teddy’s customers have commended the company's transparency regarding the pressures of this.

“We know we’re having an impact, we know our customers love us, we know we’re a gnat

having a go at the ‘Big Guys’, but the community needs little companies like us to fight for

better.”
