Xero has announced a comprehensive overhaul of its subscription plans for New Zealand customers, with the rollout commencing on 12 September 2024.
The company will introduce three new business plans: Xero Ignite, Xero Grow, and Xero Comprehensive and enhance the existing Ultimate plan. These revisions aim to simplify the user experience by integrating key features directly into the plans, eliminating the need for separate add-ons.
The transition will see the current Starter, Standard, and Premium plans discontinued and add-ons such as Xero Payroll, Xero Projects, and Analytics Plus bundled into the new plans.
As part of its ongoing focus on payroll services, Xero has invested in making payroll management more straightforward, with recent upgrades to payroll reporting and employee setup functionality.
The new line-up of streamlined business plans is designed to facilitate easier access to essential accounting and management tools.
For partners, Xero is simplifying the offerings by reducing the partner plans from three to two:
- Xero Ledger: Provides essential tools for preparing and submitting annual tax returns for non-trading clients.
- Xero Cashbook: Offers bookkeeping essentials for non-GST-registered clients.
Existing customers will be transitioned to the new plans in a phased approach, which is expected to be completed by March 2025. Xero has assured customers that most will receive more features at the same or a lower price. Customers will be notified at least 60 days before any changes are implemented.
Already a Xero subscriber? What will happen to your plan on 12 September 2024?
- If you’re currently on the Ultimate plan, you’ll get the enhancements without needing to do anything. These include expenses, payroll and projects for up to ten people, instead of the current five.
- You’re welcome to move to a new plan yourself from 12 September 2024. However, once you’ve moved, your previous plan will no longer be available. If you want to upgrade or downgrade a plan, or remove an add-on, you’ll need to choose one of the new plans. If you transfer a subscription, the new subscriber will need to choose one of the new plans.
- If you don’t want to change plans, you can wait until Xero moves you to a new plan. (You'll have at least 60 days notice before this is done.)
