CHRISTMAS DIDN’T TAKE KIWIS BY SURPRISE

A recent MasterCard survey has revealed that 31 percent of Kiwis planned ahead for Christmas and bought their presents throughout the year, wisely lessening the impact on their wallet. Another 31 percent saved over the year to fund their Christmas purchases, whilst only 25 percent said they felt financially stressed about facing this year’s festive spending, compared to 33 percent in 2014.
As for the average spending amount, 66 percent planned to spend between $50 and $150 on their parents and in-laws, whereas the least amount of money would be spent on friends and extended family member. Both women and men will not spend more than $50 on each sibling.
