New World Greenmeadows is deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of its team members, Marie Greene. Greene lost her life at home as a devastating result of Cyclone Gabrielle.
She is remembered fondly by her teammates as a generous and kind people-person. The team at New World Greenmeadows are heartbroken for Marie’s loved ones and all those who knew and loved her.
“Marie was a much-loved member of our checkout team and will be greatly missed,” said New World Greenmeadows Owner and Operator Iain Beaton.
With a difficult journey ahead for all who have been personally affected and communities hit hard by Cyclone Gabrielle, Foodstuffs North Island has set up its emergency HereforNZ fund.
“Our priority is to make sure everyone has access to essential groceries and to support the recovery where we can make the most difference,” stated Chris Quin, CEO of Foodstuffs North Island.
The HereforNZ fund has been created as a fast-response fund partnered with local food banks, food rescues and various other community groups to support communities in need.
Support to the fund is given through product donations to keep shelves stocked and have food essentials on hand when needed.
Quin expressed his gratitude to all their teams, suppliers and business partners who have been putting in tireless efforts to ensure essential supplies are reaching areas affected by the cyclone.
Truck drivers have overcome slips, tree-fall and floods that have reached window height to deliver supplies to regions across the North Island. And the brand-new Cross Dock in Hastings has proved to be a valuable staging point for coordinating deliveries.
Foodstuffs North Island and its partners have also deployed through Helicopters, Starlink kits and Satellite-based solutions to support stores to open for business and to support isolated and affected communities.
