Four Square customers and New Zealand artist Dick Frizzell have raised $35,000 for three New Zealand charities from the profits of their ‘Stand Together New Zealand’ artwork print.
Customers were given the option to choose from one of three charities to support upon purchasing their artwork, and together they raised $15,650 for Women’s Refuge, $9,850 for Kiwi Harvest and $9,500 for Lifeline.
“Charities around the country are facing an increase in demand as New Zealanders cope with the effects of COVID-19,” said Kamran Kazalbash, Head of Marketing and CX for Four Square. “We’re humbled by our customers’ generosity and the amount of money they have raised to support KiwiHarvest, Lifeline and Women’s Refuge. The donations will have a direct and positive impact on the charities’ efforts to support, feed and look after our most vulnerable in communities around the country.”
The artwork print, in true Dick Frizzell style, features Mr. Four Square and his family, reminding New Zealand to stand together in solidarity during an unprecedented time. Mrs. Four Square and their two children are ‘new’ characters and have not been featured widely before. Dick will also personally sign every artwork print. “Isolation and physical distancing can have unintended consequences on women and children who are experiencing abuse,” said Dr Ang Jury, CEO of Women’s Refuge. “When victims are isolated, there is no respite from an abusive partner. We are humbled by Four Square’s support and for their customers’ support in our efforts to protect women and children across Aotearoa. This donation will help us meet the increased demand for our support services so we can continue to keep women and children safe from domestic and family violence.”
"Lifeline has received what we believe to be the highest number of calls and texts in our 55 year history from people feeling the effects of isolation and struggling with the impact of COVID-19,” said Chloe Skeggs, Community Fundraiser for Lifeline Aotearoa. “We are so very grateful to Four Square and their generous customers who have helped our qualified counsellors and trained volunteers continue to do what they do best – providing free, life-saving support 24/7 to those in distress.”
