PAK'nSAVE Rangiora, owned by James and Catherine Flanagan, has generously donated a fully refurbished electric walkie-stacker forklift to Satisfy Food Rescue in North Canterbury. Satisfy Food Rescue collaborates with local food retailers and community organisations to redirect surplus food to those in need, which is crucial in supporting the community.
The donation from PAK'nSAVE Rangiora aims to enhance the logistical capabilities of Satisfy Food Rescue, transitioning from manual to more automated processes in their warehouse. The electric walkie stacker forklift will facilitate the efficient movement of products, making it safer and more streamlined for the team at Satisfy Food Rescue.

James and Catherine Flanagan, who have partnered with Satisfy since 2016, share the organisation's commitment to feeding the local community with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Their choice to collaborate with Satisfy stems from the organisation's locality and the assurance that the donated food stays within the community.
Upon visiting Satisfy's warehouse, the PAK'nSAVE Rangiora team observed manual handling challenges and decided to contribute by providing an electric walkie stacker forklift. They identified a suitable machine in good condition within their store inventory and collaborated with forklift supplier Crown to refurbish and gift it to Satisfy Food Rescue. Crown generously donated their time to refurbish, while PAK'nSAVE Rangiora provided the necessary parts and equipment, including a new battery.
The donation is expected to save valuable time for Satisfy Food Rescue, allowing them to focus on efficiently distributing food to the community. It also addresses safety concerns associated with manual handling, as the electric walkie stacker forklift eliminates the need to move food pallets by hand.
James Flanagan expressed the importance of supporting the local community, and the hope is that this contribution to Satisfy Food Rescue will have a lasting impact on improving food security in the region.
