As part of Graeme Dingle Foundation’s annual Drop Your Boss campaign, business leaders in New Zealand are set to plunge off the Auckland Sky Tower this Wednesday, November 6.
The event will raise funds for the foundation’s various projects involving youth development which has helped over 250,000 young kiwis to build confidence, find purpose and direction, and achieve success in the last 24 years.
A number of NZ bosses will either take the jump 192 metres from the top of the Sky Tower or take on the 360 Skywalk challenge; an activity where a group of six will walk around the rim of NZ’s tallest building with no handrails for support.
Sir Graeme Dingle himself will take the leap alongside nominated bosses including executives and managers from Fidelity Life, Lion, Chapman Tripp, Hudson Recruitment, Kerridge and Partners, SAP, Z energy, Stride Property, Yellow, Fuji Xerox and Sanitarium. Teachers from Pinehurst School and Northcross Intermediate and the foundation’s own partnerships manager Claire Baldwin will also join the jump.
“Our tamariki and rangatahi overcome many obstacles in this ever-changing world,” said Sir Dingle. “We are asking bosses across New Zealand to accept their own challenge and show the attributes of resilience and self-belief that we instil in young New Zealanders.”
“I’m facing my fear of jumping off a perfectly fine 192-metre building in order to support this amazing programme,” said Gerri Ward participant of the 2019 Drop Your Boss event and head of sustainability and community at Z Energy. “I love working with Graeme Dingle and the amazing young people they’re supporting to find their path. This is the least I can do to help them on their journey to reach their full potential.”
A 2019 infometrics survey found that every $1 invested in the foundation’s programmes results in an average long-term benefit of nearly $8 to New Zealand.
