After its first 18 months of trading, supermarket start-up Supie has announced it has a large enough customer base to provide a more competitive pricing strategy. The company is ensuring that the savings generated from its efficient online-only business model are passed directly to consumers.
The Supie product range has grown to include over 7,000 products on its virtual shelves while directly supporting local producers.
Right now, a block of 1kg Mainland Edam cheese is $14 for Supie customers, $15 on special at Countdown (normally $18.90) and $18.99 at New World.
A Woodland pack of ten Grade six Free Range eggs is currently $6.50 at Supie, $8.59 and New World and $7.50 at Countdown.
A loaf of Nature’s Fresh White Toast is currently $3.00 at Supie, $3.49 at New World and $3.50 at Countdown.
“We’re thankful to the thousands of customers who have supported Supie from day one and helped us achieve better and fairer pricing for all Kiwis. It is just the beginning; the more Kiwis that shop with Supie, the lower our prices will be,” said Sarah Balle, Supie Founder.
“Becoming a new player in the grocery industry is no easy feat, but with lots of hard work, determination and a little kiwi ingenuity, we’re incredibly proud of hard far we’ve come. We’re really excited for the future of Supie, and look forward to continuing to deliver a better and fairer way to shop for your groceries.
